As for me…well, I cried in Physical Therapy on Wednesday. I only have two sessions left so they did a reassessment. The good news: I am showing some signs of improvement on range of motion (the metrics thy use). The sucky news: I am still in exactly the same constant, low-level amount of pain I was three weeks ago.
It’s not BAD news, it’s just FRUSTRATING news. And I know. I know the muscle showed up “severely damaged” on the MRI. I know it’s not going to heal itself overnight. (Or in 3 weeks, apparently). You would think after writing x amount of novels, I would be used to things that take time. And I guess I am. But I still reserve the right to be frustrated. (As anyone in constant pain would be!)
BIG NEW THINGS:
• I’ve released a custom Dream Journal! Between all the amazing covers I’ve commissioned over the years and Cait Greer’s graphic design genius, I should have done a line of journals under the Alethea Kontis/Princess Alethea publishing umbrella years ago! Well…we’ve started now, so that can of worms open! ON SALE NOW: The Wild, Wishful and Dark Dream Journalfeatures the luminescent Rachel Marks art from my short story anthology on the outside. On the inside are lined pages edged in butterflies, with thirteen quotes—from my actual dreams, both strange and hilarious—to inspire you! Journaling has been my salvation since the pandemic started, and I am so excited to share these with you! (Next up, the Fairy Tale First Line Journal!)
• You may have noticed that a certain Kickstarter anthology I’m part of (Shattering the Glass Slipper) recently got funded! Which means I will be writing another fairy tale story before the end of the year! If you missed the Kickstarter (this always happens to me), you can go to the Zombies Need Brains LLC. The preorder options are at the top of the page. You can currently preorder the ebook or the Kickstarter paperback. (Trade paperbacks will come later.)
• The TREASURE BOX PATRON TREASURES finally went out! And boy did I have a fun time putting them all together. I saw Krys post about hers on Facebook…she got the Roswell box with the squishy alien, the glow-in-the-dark mini alien, a Holiday card from Chris Kridler, and storm chasing stickers from both of us! The next box will be a NY/VT box (those are always so much fun) — Make sure you get in on that action!
LITTLE NEW THINGS:
• Adriana is working on this month’s Princess Alethea Paper Doll right this very second! (Seriously. She’s in the online workspace with me and Tempest today.) The base doll and all the outfits so far are available to Patrons at the $5 and up level…and a new outfit will continue to be released each month! Now’s the time to bump up your pledge if you’ve been thinking about taking the plunge—and remember, there’s a 15% discount for all annual subscribers!
• If you need a spark to help restart your writing, I highly encourage you to join the crew at Alethea and Tempest’s Fun & Games WRITING SALON. For a mere $6/month cover charge, writers of all caliber are welcome to join the Dynamic Duo for writing fun & games once a month (plus access to a private Discord)! Come share the love, experience the joy, and be inspired. Our next meet-up is this Sunday—we’d love to see you!
I’m probably forgetting something (See? I should have written this down in a journal!) but that’s okay. The next time you hear from me, I will NOT BE IN FLORIDA! (Oh my gosh, I’m so excited…)
Love y’all tremendously - my life is so much better with you in it!
(Don’t forget to leave a comment and say hi back so I know you’re out there!)
